Partis pour 136 km sur cette première étape du Tour de la Communauté d'Agglomération du Bassin d'Aurillac, il faudra attendre le 60e km pour que le peloton baisse la garde et laisse partir un groupe de six hommes qui prenaient jusqu'à 1'30’’. Alors que la caravane des suiveurs croyait la course jouait, trois coureurs dont le futur vainqueur s'extrayaient du peloton au pied du dernier grimpeur pour rejoindre la tête de course. A 6 km de l'arrivée, Romain Uzureau (Sélection Maine-et-Loire) prenait le large pour gagner en solitaire.
